Rural development, like all development, is for, with and by people. In
a time of participation and privatisation, non-government organisations
are becoming increasingly more important where it comes to reaching people
and serving their interests.
International development institutions and donor organisations acknowledge
this. NGOs have become valuable partners in development.
At the same time there is a growing demand for professionalism in the
implementation and back-up support of development programmes, both
technically and at management level.
INTER-ACTIE was founded and registered in the Netherlands as a non-profit,
non-government foundation for agricultural and rural development. The
first move was made by a number of individual development specialists who
identified a growing requirement for professional technical and management
skills in the NGO sector.
The aim of INTER-ACTIE is to promote the sustainable and sound development
of people living in rural and peri-urban areas in developing countries. |
